Het is een steile klim naar de top van de berg Attuf Ridge waar de High Place of Sacrifice (Hoge plaats om te offeren) gelegen is. Zeker als je weet dat de zon genadeloos op je neer schijnt en dat je waarschijnlijk een lange dag van zandstappen voor of achter de boeg hebt.

Eens de top bereikt, merk je echter dat het de klim waard was. Twee grote obelisken van 7 meter hoog beschouwen de onderliggende vallei. De obelisken zijn uitgehouwen uit de rotsen. Het wegkappen van het rotsgesteente rond de obelisken moet in die tijd een ware onderneming geweest zijn.

De obelisken vertegenwoordigen waarschijnlijk de 2 belangrijkste Nabatese goden Dushara en zijn vrouw Al-Uzza.

Aan de overkant ligt de offerplaats zelf en is de best bewaarde heilige plaats van de oude wereld. Je kan ook van hieruit het centrum van de oude stad Petra zien.
